The call for early-stage, innovative content and content technology companies to present pitches in front of an audience of industry experts and leaders at the 2010 Software Information Industry Association Summit’s SIIA Previews is open through November 18, 2009.

Chosen companies get the following:

  • Your company CEO will provide a five-minute presentation at the Information Industry Summit and have five minutes of Q&A.
  • A table-top exhibit display from which they can network with attendees. (Note: display area is available only during the 30-minute conference break immediately following their presentation).
  • Promotion on the Information Industry Summit conference Web site and in the Summit program.
  • 20-minute feedback session with the steering committee

2010 SIIA Previews – Call for Companies

2010_siia_previewsNewstex President Larry Schwartz is chairperson for the upcoming SIIA Previews, a special event held at the annual  Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) Information Industry Summit.  The 2010 Information Industry Summit will be held from January 26-27, 2010 in New York City, and early-stage, innovative content and content technology companies are invited to apply to present before an audience of industry leaders.

Selected companies will provide a 5-minute presentation and have 5 minutes of Q&A before the Information Industry Summit audience, which could include potential business partners, customers, investors, or acquirers.  Check out the SIIA web page for all the details the selected companies and semi-finalists will receive as well as the eligibility requirements.

SIIA invites representatives from the software and information industry trade press, mainstream technology writers, analysts, consultants, educators and subject-matter experts to participate in the first round of judging for the CODiE Awards. Prospective judges can submit applications online at the CODiE Awards website. Applications are reviewed for relevant experience and judges are then selected and notified of acceptance when the nomination cycles are nearly complete and we better know where we need specific expertise.

SIIA Previews at SIIA NetGain 2009 – Call for Companies

siia-previews-netgain-2009The 2009 SIIA NetGain: The Convergence of Content & Technology conference will be held in San Francisco on May 4-5.  For the first time, SIIA Previews will be part of the SIIA NetGain conference giving SIIA member companies a unique opportunity to present their new products or services to an audience of industry leaders, corporate development executives, technologists and other influencers.   Nominations for SIIA Previews are now open.

A committee of industry experts will review all submissions and select a group of semi-finalists who will have the opportunity to make virtual presentations to the committee.  All semi-finalists will receive feedback from the committe and will be invited to submit a product profile and primary contact information for inclusion in the conference program.

Finalists will be selected from those virtual presentations, and each finalist will be invited to give a live 5-minute presentation pitch to the SIIA NetGain attendees and take 5 minutes of audience questions.  Each presenting company will have their profile and contact information included in the conference program, and they will also receive an exhibit table at the event to network with attendees during the networking break following their presentation.

Meet the New Innovators at the 2009 SIIA Previews

newstexThe 2009 Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) Previews event will showcase ten innovative early stage content technology companies at the start of SIIA’s annual Information Industry Summit conference beginning on January 26th.

The ten companies chosen to participate in the 2009 SIIA Previews were selected by a group of industry leaders, including Newstex President Larry Schwartz, who will also speak at the event. Each company will have five minutes to present in front of an audience of corporate development executives, industry leaders, bankers, technologists and other influencers. After the five minute presentation, each company will have an opportunity to field five minutes of questions from the audience.

The SIIA Previews event is an incredible opportunity for start-ups to get in front of key industry professionals and not only drive attention to their businesses but also make a case for what they bring to the table.

2009 SIIA Previews – Call for Companies!

At the end of January for the past two years I've helped produce the SIIA Previews event in New York. Previews provides a forum for early-stage content companies to present in front of the Information and Content Community including VC's and corporate development officers.  In fact at the 2008 SIIA Previews, one of the ten companies presenting, received a funding commitment the day after presenting at Previews!

The 2009 edition of the SIIA Previews will be held Monday, January 26, 2009 featuring our keynote speaker -  Roger Ehrenberg, Managing Partner of IA Capital Partners, LLC 

We are looking for early stage content and software companies to apply for one of the 10 coveted slots to present at the 2009 SIIA Previews conference.

SIIA Previews heads to London

SIIA Global Information Industry Summit, 9-11 SEPTEMBER 2008 •  ROYAL GARDEN HOTEL •  LONDON

Once again, I"ve been drafted to help put together a new SIIA Previews event, this time in London at the Global Information Industry Summit ("GIS").

We are looking for innovative, early-stage content companies — publishers and other content creators, aggregators and technology plays — to apply for the chance to present before an audience of potential business partners, customers, investors, acquirers, and other industry influencers at the 3rd annual SIIA Global Information Industry Summit, 9-11 September, in London.

This Summit is produced by the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), the leading global association for the digital content and software industries.

Call for Company details; note the deadline to apply is 27 June and there is no fee to submit your application.

Process:

  1. All
    company presentations must be delivered by the company Managing
    Director, Founder, Chief Executive, President or Chairman. All
    submissions must be made for companies that provide content, software
    or content/software technology products or services, have received no
    more than a Series A round of financing, generate no more than 10
    million euro in sales, and have actual customers.
  2. Our committee of industry experts will review all
    submissions and select semi-finalists. Semi-finalists will be notified
    by 11 July, 2008.
  3. Each Semi-finalist will make a virtual presentation to our
    committee, who will select the Presenting Companies and alternates.
    Presenting Companies will be notified by 31 July, 2008. To participate
    as a presenting company, a fee of $895 must be paid 5 August, 2008. The
    fee includes two full conference registrations.

Benefits for Semi-finalist Companies:

  1. Each
    Semi-finalist company senior executive will receive guidance from an
    SIIA member or staff to help in the preparation prior to delivering
    his/her presentation before our committee
  2. Each Semi-finalist company will receive feedback from our committee

In addition to the above, each presenting company will receive the following benefits:

  1. An
    invitation to present a 5-minute company pitch (followed by 5 minutes
    Q&A) before the SIIA Global Information Industry Summit attendees.

  2. A temporary exhibit table to network with attendees.
    (Exhibit table will be provided during the conference break that
    immediately follows each group of company presentations.)
  3. Corporate profile and primary contact information in the SIIA Global Information Industry Summit. Program or addendum.
  4. Corporate profile listed on the SIIA Global Information Industry Summit website.
  5. Two
    full conference registrations to attend the SIIA Global Information
    Industry Summit which includes all conference activities for a deeply
    discounted rate of $895.

SIIA Previews West – Presenting Companies

SIIA Previews heads west to The SIIA Netgain Conference from May 18 – 20, 2008 at The Palace Hotel in San Francisco, CA.

This SIIA Previews is a little different from the previous two Previews, which were held as part of the SIIA Summit in New York and focused solely on content.  For the NetGain Previews we sought early stage companies in content and software. We had over 75 entries and after several rounds of judging and presentations choose the final 10 Presenting Companies. 

The Previews Steering Committee consisted of myself and Charles Terry, Brian Ville and the SIIA Staff – Ken Wasch, Ed Keating, David Thomas and the ever helpful Jennifer Hansen.

The Final Presenting Companies have gone through 3 rounds of presentations and coaching to arrive at the 5 minute presentation you will see at the Netgain Conference. Each presentation will be followed by a 5 minute Q&A.
